Our Story
In the early 1900′s, a few Christians began holding meetings in a private home in Swan Hill. This group decided to form a Church of Christ in Swan Hill and so on July 5, 1910, the first communion service was held.
The first church building, in Rutherford Street, was opened on December 18, 1910. Over the decades tent missions were used to proclaim the Gospel and proved worthwhile. In 1925 the church moved to the corner of Beveridge and McCrae Streets. One by one, outlying churches at Mystic Park, Ultima and Woorinen closed and transferred to the Swan Hill church.
The church held regular Sunday services. There was a youth ministry and a vibrant children’s ministry, which at one stage was so successful that the Sunday School teachers were conducting classes in their cars parked on the site.
With continued growth, there was a need to consider re-locating again and in March 2002, the “Grain Shed” was purchased for the purpose of re-development into a multi-purpose community facility. The “Grain Shed” was officially opened on April 23, 2006.
